Following the closure of nominations on Friday February 8, 2013 the following candidates have successfully filed their forms for elections for Executive Committee positions at the forthcoming General Assembly of the Chess Federation of Zambia:-
PRESIDENT: Yohane Mukabe and Kennedy Phiri
Vice President: Solomon Simutowe (unopposed)
National Secretary: Chanda Nsakanya (unopposed)
Tournaments Director: Aaron Banda (unopposed)
Treasurer: Captain Dennis Nyemba (unopposed)
Deputy National Secretary: Richard Mwansa (unopposed)
Four Committee Members: Mercy Banda, Moses Ntemena Bwalya, Obrian Buumba and Mulambi Kasese. (As the CFZ constitution provides for four committee members the, those four who have successfully filed nominations go through unopposed).
The foregoing means that ONLY the position of PRESIDENT will be contested at the forthcoming CFZ General Assembly scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Musuku Lodge in Kabwe.
The total Electoral College will be 80 Delegates made up of the voting delegates:
CFZ Executive: 10 voting delegates
Zone 1(Zambia Schools): 10 voting delegates
Zone 2 (Copperbelt Province): 10 voting delegates
Zone 3 (Central Province): 10 voting delegates
Zone 4 (Lusaka Province): 10 voting delegates
Zone 5 (Southern Province): 10 voting delegates
Zone 7 (North-Western Province): 10 voting delegates
Zone 10 (Western Province): 10 voting delegates
The foregoing represents the MAXIMUM numbers of voting delegates.
In line with the CFZ constitution there will be NO voting by PROXY. Hence only the prescribed voting delegates who attend the General Assembly will be allowed to cast their ballots at the time for elections.
All Delegates are advised to arrive at the venue in time to enable the General Assembly to start at the indicated time of 09.00 hours.
